Multifocal contacts
Multifocal contacts are used for correction of presbyopia ( which means both nearsightedness and farsightedness at the same time).Multifocals are available in bifocal design which means the lens is split into two powers.
Another design contains a gradual transition in powers over the lens which mostly is referred to as multifocal. (Ciba Vision refer to these as progressives.
Presbopic users can also wear silicone hydrogel multifocal lenses, some overnight (continuous wear) upon optician's recommendation.
